Redheads and White Knuckles is a modern updating of The Bride of Frankenstein. It is not a Gothic or horror novel, though I did spice it up with
bloody and fateful elements of both. Think of my novel as both the Bride's escape from a stereotype that defines her as either a monster or a freak, and an odyssey woven into our new century which she must survive, or else face a suffocating doom. I have renamed her Ruby in honor of her red hair.
In Redheads she faces down unique challenges which a woman made out of the dead in defiance of God, and lined with scars all over her body, and without a past, family, home, or a soul, would confront in our world. Better yet, Ruby is galvanized by many epiphanies, experiences, and discoveries like food, fashion, books, movies, cooking, and silk that make her feel both more human, and so blessed to be what she uniquely is: A new kind of woman for a white-knuckled age.
